Caliper Reduction Initiative

Wynalda Litho has begun a program where we can examine your products and reduce the caliper of fine paper and paperboard where market conditions allow. A large percentage of the DVD wrap and insert materials have moved from 7pt stock to 100# text and subsequently from 100# text to 80# text. When appropriate an “O” sleeve could be made from 16 pt rather than the commonly used 18 pt paperboard. Years ago VHS sleeves made the same caliper change to reduce the environmental impact.

Automated equipment at converters and replicators has improved to accommodate thinner paper and paperboard stock allowing us to look at alternatives in paper thickness that have not been available due to manufacturing constraints in the past.
